Two Proposals Received for Former Barden's Dept. Store Building

Kenosha--Two redevelopment proposals were received before Friday's deadline for a vacant, city-owned downtown building that once housed a department store.

City Development Specialist Zohrab Khaligian said the proposals are now being vetted. He declined to go into details or identify the submitters.

But Khaligian said one developer was particularly aggressive in gauging the building's potential, having visited the structure several times with various experts in tow.

The city bought the building in October of 2017.

Khaligian said a panel of city employees will interview the developers later this month.
