Kenosha County Immigration Resolution to be Considered by Committee Next Week--Maybe

Oct. 9, 2024 1:35p

(WGTD)---A Kenosha County Board resolution with partisan political overtones in advance of the presidential election is scheduled to be taken up by a committee next Tuesday. That’s unless the committee runs out of time.

The proposed resolution from Supervisor Keith Gray would discourage the resettlement of migrants in Kenosha County.  Gray’s resolution refers to busloads of migrants who’ve been transported to large, northern cities by the governors of southern border states. The resolution says Kenosha County is not prepared to handle such an influx without proper planning.

The resolution has been referred to the Legislative Committee, chaired by Supervisor John Morrissey. Morrissey tells WGTD the resolution is the fourth item on the Oct. 15th meeting agenda.

If the committee runs short on time, the immigration resolution would more than likely be bumped to the committee’s next meeting in November.

The Legislative Committee meets the third Tuesday of the month, right before the convening of a regular meeting of the full county board.
