Woman Found Floating in Kenosha's Harbor Channel Near Yacht Club

Kenosha---A 58 year-old woman was pulled from the harbor channel Friday evening after dark, just a few feet from the Yacht Club where she'd apparently been drinking earlier in the evening with friends and family.

A police dept. supervisor said Saturday morning that the woman was taken to the hospital with a pulse, and that the case had been assigned to a 2nd shift detective.

The woman was spotted by a fisherman floating face down in the currents along the north wall, near where the channel opens up into the harbor basin. It wasn't immediately clear just how long she'd been in the water.

Yacht Club patrons and others who'd been in the area rushed over to help. A man jumped in and pulled her out of the water while others began to perform CPR before firefighters and paramedics arrived.

A man who identified himself as the woman's husband appeared at the scene distraught and was comforted by authorities and friends and family members.

The case brings to mind a story from Racine about a month ago in which a 42 year-old man drowned on a Saturday night with no apparent witnesses after leaving the Fifth Street Yacht Club along the Root River. The victim's body was recovered the following day. Foul play was not suspected.
