Town of Paris Solar Project Still on Track

Nov. 18, 2019 11:30p

(WGTD)---Despite delays, the developer of a proposed 1,400-acre solar farm in the Town of Paris in Kenosha County says the project is still on track.

Dan Litchfield of Invenergy says the company hopes to file requests for the final permits sometime early next year. "Every project has a process," Litchfield says. "Our company has really been focused, as well as some of our big customers, on our Badger Hollow project in Iowa County. I think our Kenosha County site will be next," he said in a WGTD News interview.

Originally, the company had hoped to file last summer. The date was pushed back to fall, and now there’s the new target of early next year.

Litchfield says crews have been working on a host of issues in Kenosha County, including finalizing leases and addressing cultural and environmental concerns, such as wetlands and any archaeologically-sensitive locations. They’re also working to identify and protect farm field drain tiles.

The $250 million, 200 megawatts project is expected to produce enough electricity to meet the needs of 50,000 average homes.

Litchfield says the project will be battery-ready, meaning that storage batteries could later be added to make the solar farm even more beneficial.
