(WGTD)---Some big changes are underway at a Kenosha charter school, but they’re not expected to have an immediate impact on students.
A governing board that oversaw KTEC 4K-8 is being disbanded.
The school—currently located in the former Lincoln Middle School building—is being fully rolled into Kenosha Unified as a choice school.
According to a news release from the district, KTEC’s curriculum will become aligned with the curriculum at LakeView Technology Academy, a KUSD choice high school. LakeView is in the process of moving into a new building in Kenosha Innovation Neighborhood.
KTEC’s organizational changes stem from a report that uncovered an improper commingling of funds between KTEC, and KTEC High School, which, unlike KTEC 4K-8, has no affiliation with KUSD.
The news release says that KTEC 4K-8 governance board members have agreed to the structural changes.
The release goes on to say that a name change will accompany the revamp. KTEC will now be known as LakeView K-8 Academy.
The school board is expected to formally vote Thursday night to approve the changes.
Meanwhile, KTEC High School continues to operate in the old St. Mary’s school on 39th Ave.
