Group Formed to Lobby Support for KUSD Referendum

Jan. 21, 2025 7:45p

(WGTD)---A committee has been formed to advocate for the upcoming Kenosha Unified operational referendum.

Voters on Feb. 18th will be asked to allow the district to exceed state-mandated levy limits by $23 million over the next five years. The extra money would fund school security improvements, and allow the district to close budget gaps. State aid hasn’t kept pace with inflation over the years.

The new committee is calling itself “Say Yes to Invest.”

Supporters are being asked to show up at Public Brewing Company in downtown Kenosha Thursday evening from 6 to 7:30 to pick up yard signs.

The committee will be hosting other community events and using social media platforms to spread the word.

The committee is independent of the school district, which by law can only inform voters of the issues but can not actively lobby for support.
