Third Candidate Enters Race for Kenosha Mayor

July 18, 2023 8:40p; 7-19 correction on high school

(WGTD)---A third name has been added to the list of candidates running for Kenosha mayor.

Koerri Elijah has thrown his hat into the ring, promising to bring change to the city as a new face in local politics.

The Kenosha native and Reuther Central High School graduate made a name for himself during the 2020 riots in Kenosha when he rode around on a skateboard live-streaming the unrest. He maintained a strong presence on social media by streaming other community events. "For too long it's been business as usual at the expense of the citizens' quality of life," he said in a news release announcing his candidacy. "There's no time better than now for critical, creative and tech savvy thinking."

Previously-announced candidates included Ald. Dave Bogdala and former Ald. Lydia Spottswood.

They're all seeking to replace John Antaramian, who's retiring.

If three or more candidates file the necessary paperwork early next year, then a primary election would be held Tuesday, Feb. 20th.
