These Kites Won't Fly, But They'll Wind Up Looking Good!

Jan. 27, 2025 2:10p

(WGTD)---The theme for this year’s public art project in downtown Racine has been chosen.

Vibrant, whimsically-decorated metal kites will grace the streets, according to a news release from the Downtown Racine Corp.

Gateway Technical College’s welding program will fabricate the large metal pieces on a stand.

Artists will then use their imagination to decorate them.

Thirty artists are currently being sought.

Applications are on Downtown Racine Corporation’s website.

The pieces will be on display this summer, then eventually auctioned off to adorn backyard gardens.
