Success Celebrated of Frank Elementary Clothing Drive

From United Way of Kenosha County/Kenosha YMCA:

KENOSHA, Wis. (Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025) – The United Way of Kenosha County and Kenosha YMCA are proud to announce the incredible outcome of the “Every Child Warm in the Winter” cold-weather clothing drive. In total, 846 items were collected, including boots, coats, hats, gloves, scarves, socks and more for students of Frank Elementary School. This initiative ensures that students will be well-equipped to stay warm and thrive during the winter months.

“We cannot thank the United Way of Kenosha County and Kenosha YMCA enough for the hard work and dedication in keeping students safe and warm at Frank Elementary,” said KUSD Superintendent Dr. Jeff Weiss. “We are beyond grateful for partnerships like these that allow our students to arrive safely at school prepared to learn.”

The initiative sought donations of new and gently used winter gear for approximately 400 students from 4K through 5th grade at Frank Elementary School. Community members contributed essential items, ensuring that every student had access to the warmth and comfort needed during the cold season.

“As we reflect on ‘Every Child Warm in the Winter’ clothing drive, my heart is filled with gratitude for our generous community,” said United Way of Kenosha County CEO Carolynn Friesch. “United Way and the YMCA are not just providing winter essentials; we are showing these students that their community cares deeply about their well-being and success.”

“It is our great joy, as always, to come alongside,” said Kenosha YMCA Education and Community Impact Director Dr. M. Rachel Mall. “It is a privilege to do so. We look forward to continuing to work together to help the children and youth of our community. ”

Thank you to all who contributed to making this initiative a remarkable success and for helping to keep students safe and warm this winter.
