Snow Emergencies, Weather Advisories, Rolled Out Again

Feb. 14, 2025 12:45p

(WGTD)---Snow emergencies have been declared in both Kenosha and Racine in advance of a Friday night snowfall.

A Winter Weather Advisory for the WGTD listening area goes into effect at 6 p.m. A burst of moderate to heavy snow is expected this evening, creating the potential for short-term havoc on area roads. Total accumulation is expected to be no more than three inches. Some lingering, light snowfall is anticipated after the burst.

In the City of Kenosha, a Snow Emergency takes effect Saturday at 1 a.m. It's set to expire late Sunday night, although the city has a habit of lifting the all-street parking restriction when conditions warrant.

In Racine, a Snow Emergency goes into effect Friday at 6 p.m. That means no parking on either side of arterial and collector streets, per city ordinance. The restriction is expected to be lifted at noon Saturday.

In the neighborhoods, the usual alternate side parking restrictions will be in effect.

1-2 inches of additional snow is forecast for Saturday. There's a 50% chance for snow on Sunday.

Temperatures will begin to take a slide Sunday night, with single digits forecast for Monday and Tuesday.
