Police: No Explicit Threats Made in Advance of Kenosha Murder

Feb. 11, 2025 10:30p

(WGTD)---Kenosha police had no reason to suspect that anyone’s life was in danger in the hours before a new homeowner was killed a week ago Monday.

The victim, 52-year-old Andrew Pfannkuche, had just moved into his home three days earlier.

His alleged killer, 41-year-old Justin Tercek, is due back in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing. He’s facing charges that include a count of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide.

According to the criminal complaint, Pfannkuche was stabbed to death that Monday afternoon. Very early in the morning, Pfannkuche had a confrontation with a man who broke into the house, claiming it was his grandmother’s. The man fled after stealing some keys.

Tercek’s grandmother had actually lived in the house, but it was sold to Pfannkuche after her death last year.

Pfannkuche called police to report the incident later in the morning, but due to a busy day the officer who took it didn’t immediately finish it, according to a police department spokesman.

By the middle of that afternoon, Pfannkuche was dead.

Police discovered the body after the defendant’s aunt and uncle went to the home to apologize for their nephew’s actions and spotted blood through a window.

The department spokesman said the initial report taken following the break-in and confrontation included no indication of any threats having been made.
