(WGTD)---A $5.5 million project to protect 950 ft. of Lake Michigan shoreline south of the Southport Beach House and east of Kenosha's sewage treatment plant is about half done.
Edgerton Contractors of Oak Creek began the project in mid-June.
While the revetment itself is expected to be completed before the end of the year, the site restoration work will have to wait until spring.
The property in question is all city-owned, and was partially eaten away by a strong storm last January.
The shoreline north of the beach house was completed a couple of years ago.
A city engineer says a couple of other shoreline areas are being evaluated for possible improvement.
