SC Johnson: A Family Company...And Then Some

For the past 20 years, Racine-based SC Johnson has referred to itself as "A Family Company."

The company announced Monday that it has amended its slogan to offer a better reflection of itself.

"A Family Company at Work for a Better World" is how the new version reads. "SC Johnson has a long legacy as a family company committed to doing what's right, for our consumers, communities and the environment," said Fisk Johnson, Chairman and CEO of SC Johnson. "This is something we have been doing for generations, and we want people to know more about the many ways we are at work for a better world," he said in a news release.

Over the years, the company has taken the lead in phasing out ozone-depleting chlorofluorocarbons, reducing manufacturing waste and disclosing ingredients in products that could trigger allergies, according to the release. Examples of the company's humanitarianism and philanthropy include a company policy of donating 5% of its pretax profits to charities. When the Zika virus epidemic broke out two years ago, the company donated $15 million in insect repellent.
