Preliminary Approvals For New Subdivisions in Pleasant Prairie and Somers

May 9, 2023 2:30p

(WGTD)----Two massive subdivisions are on track for construction in eastern Kenosha County.

The Pleasant Prairie Village Board approved the conceptual plan Monday night for the proposed Highland Estates Subdivision. Once fully developed, the subdivision is expected to include nearly 500 single-family lots, 85 duplexes and 21, two-unit condo buildings. The 275-acre tract of land is located east of Green Bay Road and west of Cooper Road and north of STH 165. The project is being developed by the same family that built Prairie Ridge off of STH 50.

Also Monday, the Somers Plan Commission had no major objections to turning the Maplecrest Country Club at highways 'H' and 'L'  into a nearly 900-unit subdivision. Developers laid out preliminary plans at the commission's regularly-scheduled meeting. Afterward, Village President George Stoner said he was "very excited."

Plans call for single-family homes, town houses and several three or four-story apartment buildings.

Similarities between the two projects abound.

Both include a lot of open space. Of the 166 acres at Maplecrest, 66 would remain green. About a-third of the Highlands subdivision would remain undeveloped.

Both projects are just a few miles from I-94, would include multiple amenities and will offer a variety of housing options at various prices.

In the coming months, the developers of both projects are expected to refine their plans and return to their respective village boards for final approval .

The Maplecrest project is being developed by LandQuest of Kenosha and Three Leaf Partners of Milwaukee, with a build-to-rent plan offered by Heyday.
