(WGTD)---A ten-day balloon adventure is wrapping up this weekend in Williams Bay.
It’s a fundraiser that features over 100,000 balloons artistically configured to build on a theme titled “Voyage into the Deep Sea.”
Speaking this week on Wisconsin Public Radio’s Wisconsin Today was Sara Meyer, owner of Wisconsin Balloon Décor, and chief architect behind the massive sea-themed balloon display. It includes a colorful pirate ship, jellyfish, mermaids, dolphins and many other sea creatures. The design work took many months, and an army of volunteers spent days building the show, she said.
The fundraiser is benefitting the 5-3-1 Fund which allocates money to local charities in southern Wisconsin. The fund is headed by Kimberly Voller. "You can not talk into a room of balloons and not feel happy," she said
The balloon display is located in the Pier 290 Boat Showroom in Williams Bay.
While the show ends Sunday, the fun continues a bit longer. All of the balloons are popped and then recycled.
Tickets to the show are here. The Wisconsin Today interview can be replayed here.
