(WGTD)---A 17-year-old Racine girl suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash with a driver who seconds earlier was allegedly speeding through a Racine neighborhood early Sunday morning.

The collision occurred just before 1 a.m. at 16th St. and Deane Blvd.

According to a news release from the Racine County Sheriff's Office, a car driven by 34-year-old Salvador Coronado passed a deputy on 16th St. at a speed of over 90 mph. The deputy called dispatch and activated his emergency lights. By then, the offending vehicle was already out of sight. Less than 30 seconds later, according to the release, the deputy came upon the accident scene.

In addition to the girl, the car that was struck carried a pair of 16-year-old boys and two 17-year-old boys, all from Racine. All of the boys were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, although two were later transferred to a Milwaukee hospital.

According to the release, Coronado appeared to have multiple broken bones and other non-life-threatening injuries.

In 2021, online court records show that Coronado was convicted of fleeing and eluding, operating while revoked and two counts of bail jumping. He was sentenced to prison and extended supervision. At the time of the Sunday crash, Coronado was still under supervision.
