Kenosha---Carthage College is poised for another growth spurt.
The school announced Wednesday that construction of a new eight-story dorm will begin this summer, helping to pave the way for a planned enrollment increase from 2,600 traditional undergraduate students to 2,700 by 2019.
The new dorm will be sandwiched between the Johnson and Madrigrano residence halls which are located just south of the Todd Wehr Center. The first two floors of the new building will be reserved for common spaces and cooking areas, inviting quiet study and reflection, gaming, group collaboration and meal preparation, according to a news release.
The building's cost is estimated at $21.5 million.
Completion is targeted for fall of 2018.
About 70% of Carthage students live on campus.
