Nov. 5, 2022 2:25p

(WGTD)---Most of the top tier Democratic Party candidates on Tuesday's ballot appeared at a rally held in the gym of the John Bryant Community Center in Racine Saturday afternoon.

About 200 party faithful attended, many holding campaign signs and cheering on the candidates with just a few days left before the election.

Without referring to a the Marquette poll released this week that showed him tied in the race for governor with Republican Tim Michels, Evers urged the crowd to approach friends who they may disagree with politically, even it meant jeopardizing those relationships. "We can rebuild friendships later but we can not rebuild this state," Evers said.

He relayed a personal story of having lengthy conversations over the years with a classmate that always skirted politics, knowing that the friend came from Republican Party hierarchy in Sheboygan County. At the end of one of those conversations just before the 2018 election, Evers said he got up the nerve to ask him who he was going to vote for. Much to Evers' surprise, the man responded, "You." Evers said there are too many important issues on the line not to discuss politics.

Attorney General Josh Kaul, who's seeking re-election, said winning is dependent on turnout. in elections that are expected to be close. "Four of our last six presidential elections were decided by less than a percentage point. Gov. Evers in 2018 won by 1.1%. You know what I call them?" Kaul asked the crowd. "A landslide."
