Racine Gay Pride Parade

Two days before the 47th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion in New York---which started Gay Pride Day in America---Racine's 8th annual Gay Pride March and gathering at Monument Square was attended by a crowd of about 150. Noting it's been a year since the decision on same sex marriage, Racine state Representative Cory Mason, also pointed to it being a more somber observance because of what happened with the mass shootings in Orlando. Attorney James Wilbur addressed the recent controversy about transgender students, which bathrooms they can & can't use, and states enacting laws mandating restrictions.  Racine Mayor John Dickert's proclamation about "LGBT Day" was read by Alderman Melissa Lemke, while State Senator Bob Wirch's statement mentioned "a ways to go" when it comes to equality in this country.
