New Olympia Brown School Dedicated

Racine Unified's new Olympia Brown Elementary School, on 5 1/2-Mile Road, in Caledonia, is ready and waiting for next week Thursday when students arrive to begin the new school year. Last night there was a dedication ceremony held that included some of those students, as well as their parents, who paid to help make it happen. Village Administrator Tom Christensen, who gets to do another dedication with Gifford next week, said the new Olympia Brown school is another exciting step forward in Caledonia's future. Racine Mayor John Dickert said regardless of municipal borders, new schools benefit the community as a whole, but more importantly, show that the community wants a better future. Like the ceremony last week for the new Knapp School, the crowd for the Olympia Brown ceremony got to walk through the new building, which replaces the aging and outdated lakeside facility. Next Wednesday is a dedication for the addition to Gifford, making it a K-8 campus. (Photo is an artist rendering)
