(WGTD)---Upgraded charges have been filed against a 24-year-old Pleasant Prairie man who's accused of sexually assaulting a student on the campus of Carthage College last month.

Brandon Wilson now faces charges of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault and False imprisonment. He had been facing a charge of 3rd Degree Sexual Assault.

According to the new criminal complaint, a 19-year-old student encountered a stranger in the school's ceramic studio when she arrived one night to work on a project. The woman said the man hung around, was overly friendly then followed her back to her dorm. That's when the assailant grabbed her from behind and had sexual contact. The woman said she screamed and the man ran off.

According to the complaint, a police officer recognized the assailant in a Carthage security camera image that had been circulated, and one thing led to another.

A status conference in the case is set for next Monday.

Wilson is being held on a $15,000 bond.
