(WGTD)---Martice Fuller will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2019 murder of his ex-girlfriend and the wounding of her mother.
"I don't have any ability to trust that you will never commit these acts again," said Judge Mary Wagner as she passed the sentence. "You have not shown any attempts to acknowledge your wrong or express remorse in your actions," she said. "You are a very dangerous and damaged human being."
Wagner went on to say that "it was unfathomable for all of us to think that a boy 15 years old could plot and plan ruthlessly to kill Kaylie and her mother."
But it would have been almost unfathomable to have used that language to have described Fuller as he was entering Bradford High School just a few years ago.
During his comments at Friday's sentencing hearing, Fuller's attorney described his client as a former honor roll student and a promising athlete who worked a couple of jobs.
Fuller, and Kaylie Juga, the girl he would eventually kill, started dating as freshmen in high school. Fuller went on to spend much time with Kaylie and her family. But the relationship turned sour as Fuller became increasingly possessive.
According to court testimony, Fuller began to plot to kill Kaylie. He eventually broke into the Juga home and fatally shot her as she was in her bedroom. He also shot her mother, Stephanie, but she survived the attack.
Fuller had one of his attorneys read a brief statement on his behalf. He apologized for the pain the family suffered. But he continued to maintain his innocence, despite overwhelming evidence of guilt that was presented during his trial.
