Kenosha Standoff Ends With No Injuries and One in Custody

Sept. 21, 2019 7:15p

(WGTD)---A five-hour-long stand-off on Kenosha's north side ended without injuries Saturday afternoon after a man who had barricaded himself in a home in the 4100 blk. of 30th Ave. was taken into custody.

According to a Kenosha Police Dept. news release, the incident began just before noon when police responded to a 911 hang-up. They encountered a man who had armed himself with a crowbar and made threats against police. The Kenosha County Sheriff Tactical Response team was called in.

Two family members that he'd been holding hostage were eventually released.

Although the news release didn't mention it, tear gas apparently was used to help end the standoff, according to unverified social media posts.

Early on in the incident, police told a Milwaukee TV station that they were dealing with a subject that had mental problems.

The release said that the man is being held in custody on an outstanding warrant.
