Kenosha Apartment Building Fire Displaces Residents

Jan. 24, 2025 noon

(WGTD)---An early-morning fire at an apartment complex on Kenosha's south side emptied out the city's fire stations Friday and triggered mutual aid requests.

No one was injured in the 6:30 a.m. blaze at the Sheridan Mews complex off of Sheridan Rd. But two of the building's six units sustained fire damage, and the entire building was without power Friday morning.

The fire began in a vehicle in an attached garage.

Firefighters responding from the nearest station--on 30th Ave.--could see black smoke in the distance.

Area fire departments were called in to staff the city's empty stations. The Racine Fire Bells also responded.
