From WGTD News:
It looked a lot worse than it was. Multiple rescue squads were dispatched late Thursday afternoon to I-94 near County ‘C’ in Kenosha County on a report of a crash that might have involved as many as 15 people. It turned out all of the injuries were minor. According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, a van stalled in traffic and was then rear-ended. A third vehicle was involved as well. All but one lane was blocked to traffic for a couple of hours, creating big backups just as the evening commute was beginning.

Lots of questions but no complaints at a Kenosha County Board briefing held this week on a proposal to restore a large stretch of the south branch of the Pike River in Kenosha and Somers. The section in question runs for about a mile and a half from 60th St. north to County Highway ‘S’, between the two sets of railroad tracks. The $15 million plan—funded mostly by the Army Corps of Engineers—would remove some 56 miles of drain tile in an effort to revert farmland back to wetlands. The project is designed to reduce erosion, improve water quality and create a more conducive habitat for fish and wildlife. It also includes a bike trail that’ll connect with other trails. The final funding piece is a proposed $2.5 allocation from Kenosha County. A series of votes on the proposal is expected to come next month.

State Attorney General Josh Kaul made a stop in Kenosha this week to highlight the importance of continued funding for the Justice Department’s Office of School Safety. The visit comes in the wake of two school safety-related incidents in Kenosha. Speaking at the John J. Hosmanek Educational Support Center, Kaul was joined by Office of School Safety Director Trish Kiplin, KUSD Superintendent Jeff Weiss, Bill Haithcock, the district’s chief of school leadership and Kenosha Police Department Captain Aaron Dillhoff, who works as a liaison with the school district. Kaul’s Office of School Safety works with schools in a variety of different ways. Just this week in Kenosha, a two-day crisis response and recovery training session was held for school psychologists, social workers and counselors.
