Bradford Stadium Will Be Called Mary D. Bradford Stadium

The new football stadium at Kenosha’s Bradford High School has a new name. Olen Arrington Junior's son urged the Kenosha Unified School Board last night NOT to name the new stadium at Bradford High School for his father, ending two weeks of intense debate over what to name the new facility. David Arrington said his father would not like what has happened since the board rejected an ad hoc committee's recommendation and voted 3 to 2 to name the stadium for him. Board President Tamara Coleman said she decided to ask the board to rescind the decision after hearing from the community. Board member Dan Wade said he feels the policy, that only the names of people can be consider for district buildings, should be changed noting those from outside the area will probably know it as Bradford Stadium no matter what name is chosen. Board member Rebecca Stevens said she heard from many people about changing her vote, but she feels strongly about her decision to support the Arrington name. Board member Mike Falkofske said the naming process needs to be clarified and the board needs to understand the misunderstandings that lead to last night's action:  The board voted unanimously to rescind the original naming motion, then voted 6 to 1 in favor of calling the new stadium Mary D. Bradford Stadium, with Rebecca Stevens voting no.  The board also voted to review the district's policies for naming buildings and areas within district facilities.
