Tuesday Night's Fatal Kenosha Protest Shootings Pieced Together

Aug. 27, 2020 1:25a

(WGTD)---Just as in the police shooting Sunday of Jacob Blake, video images are being used to piece together what happened Tuesday night in which two people were killed and another wounded at a Jacob Blake protest in Kenosha.

A 36-year-old Silver Lake man was fatally shot at a used car lot at Sheridan ad 63rd. Also killed--a few seconds later about a half-block away--was 26-year-old Anthony Huber of Kenosha. a 26-year-old West Allis man suffered a serious shotgun wound to his arm.

The alleged shooter, 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, was arrested early Wednesday morning at the Antioch apartment that he shares with his mother. Rittenhouse is now awaiting extradition back to Wisconsin.

Authorities here have said little about the case, and have yet to tie the suspect to all three shootings.

But a half-dozen video streams captured parts of the shootings, according to Troy Williams who was streaming the protest himself that night along with the others.

Speaking to WGTD News Wednesday, Williams said in the aftermath he closely examined his video as well as those of the others.

He said after the used car lot shooting, Rittenhouse was chased down the block when he appeared to trip, and then started firing. Huber, the second man to die, was a well-known local skateboard enthusiast who may have been trying to knock the gun out of Rittenhouse's hands when he was hit.

Williams said at the time he didn't realize what was going on--he said he heard the initial shots, saw people running, and then another set of shots rang out. That's when he fled.

Rittenhouse also took off and obviously made it back home.

Rittenhouse apparently idolized law enforcement and considered himself militia and was in Kenosha Tuesday night to ostensibly protect property. It's not clear whether he was associated with any known group.
