A broad credit-transferring agreement between Carthage College and Gateway Technical College is now in place following a signing ceremony held on Gateway’s Kenosha campus Monday.
"This particular agreement has deep meaning because it addresses a lot of the concerns that you might hear about in the national media," said Gateway President Bryan Albrecht. "It helps establish the pathways of an affordable education," he said, indicating that the program could be particularly beneficial for older adults who already have families and jobs.
The deal allows eligible Gateway graduates who’ve earned an associate degree in one of some 40 different programs to transfer their credits to Carthage and work toward a four-year degree.
Bill Miller, the Assistant Provost for Continuing Studies at Carthage, said: "This represents an excellent opportunity--not just for our institutions, but for our community but probably most importantly for our students."
Articulation agreements between the two schools are nothing new, but up until now they’ve all been program specific.
Carthage President Gregory Woodward had to miss Monday's signing ceremony because of a dental emergency.
