Reince Priebus Featured in a New Edition of "Gatekeepers"

A new edition of a best-selling book about White House chiefs of staff includes a chapter on Reince Priebus, Donald Trump's former chief of staff from Kenosha who was forced out six months into Trump's presidency.

Released last year, the book--by Chris Whipple--is titled "The Gatekeepers: How the White House Chiefs of Staff Define Every Presidency." The new edition, coming out in paperback next month, is excerpted in the March issue of Vanity Fair.

The new material includes portions of an interview that Whipple had with Preibus, an attorney who has since returned to practice at his former law firm. Whipple says the sit-down is the most extensive interview that Priebus has given since leaving the White House.

Priebus is quoted as saying he had no idea that his resignation would take effect the next day, adding that he thought he'd have a week or two to make a graceful exit. Instead, Trump announced his departure in a tweet the next day while sitting on Air Force One at Andrews Air Force base.

Priebus' exit from the plane and into a waiting car during a rain storm was witnessed by reporters.

Despite suffering various indignities at the hands of Trump, Priebus reportedly told Whipple, "I still love the guy. I want him to be successful."
