To learn more about a place, you can read a book, Google or go to a museum.
In the case of downtown Racine, the options now include a walking tour. "In Racine, every corner has 100 stories that are fascinating," says Chris Paulson, director of the Racine Heritage Museum.
The Museum has put together an 80-minute walking tour of downtown Racine.
Speaking on a recent edition of the Morning Show, Paulson said most of the stops include some type of tie-in to Racine’s amazing industrial age.
The tour was developed with an eye toward increasing tourism. Research has shown that visitors are more apt to return to a community if they leave knowing something about its history, Paulson said.
The guided tours are being offered twice on Saturdays through the second weekend in September. There’s an $8 charge and reservations are required by either calling the Heritage Museum or going to its web site,
