Kenosha Bartender is Collecting Donations For Ukrainian Refugees in Her Native Poland

March 13, 2022 8:30p

(WGTD)---A Polish-born bartender in Kenosha is among those raising money to help Ukrainian refugees who have fled to her home country.

Emilia Debicka emigrated here in 2003. For the past 13 years, she’s worked at Stan’s Place on Washington Road in Kenosha.

She’s raising money for a foundation that helps refugees in her home town.

Debicka says many of her family members remain in Poland, and that she has near daily contact with her sister. While Poland is struggling to accommodate an estimated 1.5 million refugees that have already crossed the border from Ukraine, there's one overriding concern. "That Russia will attack Poland," she says. "That's the biggest concern of course. A lot of sadness and nervousness."

Anyone with an interest in donating can do so by dropping by at Stan’s Place.

She says the foundation that she’s sending money to responds with photos and descriptions of how they’re supporting the refugees.
