As expected---Democrat Greta Neubauer was elected---yesterday---to the State Assembly from Racine’s 66th district. She was the only candidate on the ballot. She picked up 551 votes---and---there were 17 write-in votes for other people.
Meanwhile---there was a bit of an upset in a state senate election in another part of the state. Democrat Patty Schachter defeated Republican State Representative Adam Jarchow in the race to replace Republican Sheila Harsdorf---who is now the state agriculture secretary. The district had been considered a safe Republican seat. Schacter said her win sends a message that voters are tired of negative politics.
