Berit Beck's Murderer Gets 10-Year Prison Term

A Kenosha man charged with killing a young woman nearly three decades ago was sentenced to 10 years in prison in a Fond du Lac court today.  64-year-old Dennis Brantner (pictured)  entered an Alford plea in the 1990 strangulation of 18-year-old Berit Beck (pictured) of Sturtevant. She disappeared while traveling from her home to Appleton. Her body was later found in a ditch near Waupun. She had been blindfolded and either strangled or suffocated. In making the Alford plea, Brantner agreed that there's enough evidence for a conviction---but---he maintained his innocence. His first trial ended with a hung jury and a mistrial.
