(WGTD)---The first of a handful of Minnesota men who traveled to Kenosha for the alleged express purpose of taking part in the looting and rioting that occurred in the wake of the Jacob Blake shooting in 2020 was sentenced last week.
In federal court in Milwaukee on Friday, Kevin Martinez was given a two-year prison term by Judge J. D. Stadmueller. Given credit for time already served, Martinez is expected to be released next summer.
Martinez was tied to a group whose members firebombed Charlie’s 10th Hole Tavern at 22nd Ave. and Washington Rd., looted the CVS store across the street and also the Citgo gas station on Roosevelt Rd.
In addition, one of the defendants fingered an accomplice as being part of a group of men who torched the Car Source lot.
Earlier this year, a Racine man not believed to be part of the Minnesota group was sentenced in federal court to over three years in prison for torching B & L Office Furniture on 60th St.
In addition, some 100 defendants have been taken to state court for their roles in the looting and rioting.
