(WGTD)---A 38-year-old Milwaukee man was in Racine court Monday to face a charge of escape.
According to a criminal complaint, Robert Strother scaled at least one fence at the Sturtevant Transitional Facility Saturday evening.
He made a successful run for it even after he was tased through a fence by a staff member, and shot at by a tower guard.
Strother's freedom ended about an hour and a half later when a deputy with a canine tracked him down to a backyard behind 90th St. He was arrested without incident.
According to the complaint, Strother was scheduled to be released no later than a year from now. But his prison stay was about to be extended at a sentencing hearing later this month on new charges. Strother had been accused of burglary and attempted armed robbery.
