From WGTD News:
A 70-year-old tradition within the Kenosha area sports community will look different this year. Organizers of Sports Night at Holy Rosary say they are discontinuing the banquet portion of the event, but will continue to honor outstanding high school sports athletes through the awarding of scholarships and an online event. In a news release, the organizers said economic and structural changes in college and professional sports have made it challenging to secure top celebrity appearances for the banquet.

A home invasion in Delavan early Sunday morning left three residents with non-life threatening stab wounds. The suspect apparently tried to flee by jumping from a second-story window. He was arrested and taken to the hospital for treatment. In a news release, police applauded the quick-thinking of the home's residents and said it could've been a lot worse. The incident on Burr Oak Ct. happened around 7:30 a.m. Police aren't saying if the victims were targeted or if they were selected randomly.

An informational meeting will be held Monday night on the proposed operational referendum that'll be on the ballot Feb. 20th in the Wilmot Union High School district. Last spring, voters narrowly rejected a referendum to increase state-mandated levy limits. As a result, nearly two-dozen positions were eliminated. Approval of the less costly proposal Feb. 20th would mean the district would be able to restore some of the lost positions, upgrade security and make technology and facility improvements. The forum will be held at 6 p.m. in Wilmot High School's library.

Two Kenosha service clubs are merging. The Rotary Club of Kenosha was originally chartered in 1921. Fifty years later, a splinter group formed the Rotary Club of Kenosha West. Now the two groups are re-linking. They'll be meeting jointly for lunch on the first and third Thursdays of every month at the Stella in downtown Kenosha. In a news release, Rotary officials said the club will continue to support various community endeavors through revenue raised from its annual softball tournament. It'll also continue an essay contest for high school seniors that leads to the awarding of scholarships. Rotarians are also known for providing over 200 Thanksgiving meals each year to families in need in the Kenosha area.
