Special Election Tentatively Scheduled for Racine County Exec

(WGTD)---Racine County officials are looking at holding a special election Thursday, December 19th to fill the unexpired term of Racine County Executive Jonathan Delagrave who died last month.

In an order issued by Racine County Clerk Wendy Christensen, a primary, if one is needed, will be held Thursday, November 21st.

Nomination papers can be circulated immediately. The filing deadline is October 24th.

The order must be ratified by the county board which will consider the matter at its regularly scheduled meeting next week. 

The winner of the special election will serve the remainder of Delagrave's term which expires in April of 2027.

A memorial service will be held next Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Grace Church at 3626 Hwy. 31. Visitation will be at the church Monday afternoon beginning at 3.

Delagrave, who died of an apparent heart attack, was 51, and was serving his third term as county executive.
