(WGTD)---A suspected drunk driver has been charged with two counts of homicide in the Tuesday evening death of an 18-year-old Racine woman. That’s because the victim—Michelle Romero—was pregnant at the time.
Ramiro Esteban Baca appeared in Racine court Thursday afternoon. Bond was set at $250,000.
In addition to the homicide charges, Baca was charged with driving without a valid license.
The victim—Romero—was a passenger in an SUV being driven by Baca.
The vehicle struck two parked cars in the 1800 blk. of Mead St. and rolled over.
Romero was found in the back seat and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported that the SUV was being driven at a high rate of speed when it struck the parked cars.
Of the three other passengers in Baca's vehicle, one was critically injured. One of the passengers was identified in the criminal complaint as the father of Romero's unborn child.
A go fund me account has been established for the family of Michelle Romero.
