June 16, 2023 12:45p

(WGTD)---Deliberating part of Thursday afternoon and most of Friday morning, a Racine jury just before noon acquitted a 16-year-old boy of a charge of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide.

Sincere Granados was 14 at the time when prosecutors said he shot a gun through the windshield of a car and struck and killed 17-year-old Jayden Cronin.

Cronin had been walking home with a friend from a football game. The friend was never identified.

Granados had been in the vehicle with two others.

The defense said there was no physical evidence that directly tied Granados to the crime.

The victim and the defendant were said to be members of rival gangs.

Granados did not testify at the trial.
