(WGTD)---An off-duty Racine police officer is the second person to die as a result of injuries sustained a week ago in a head-on crash in snow on Highway 20 in Racine County.
48-year-old Jennifer Diener was pronounced dead late Saturday night, according to a report in the Racine Journal Times.
Diener was one of 10 people hurt in a crash that involved two SUV’s west of the interstate. The other fatality was attorney Elizabeth Olszewski.
According to reports, Olszewski and six of her relatives were riding in one vehicle. They were returning from a Milwaukee theater performance.
In the other vehicle was Diener along with her husband and 15-year-old daughter. They were coming back from a Colorado skiing trip.
Diener is the daughter of former Racine County Executive Jean Jacobson. Diener had been a police officer since 1995, and was planning to retire in less than two years.
The Racine County Sheriff's Dept. has yet to release the accident report.
Family members say Olszewski's mother and brother-in-law remain hospitalized, but they're said to be doing well.
