Racine---There’s another hat in the ring for the soon-to-be-vacant 66th District Assembly seat. That’s the seat that Cory Mason will be giving up now that he is the newly-elected mayor of Racine. Racine Alderman John Tate II announced today that he will run as a Democratic candidate in the special election for State Assembly. In his announcement statement he said: "We deserve a progressive voice at the State Capitol who will fight for a living wage, affordable and accessible healthcare, and quality public education for our children. We need to strengthen civil rights, women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, immigrant rights, and workers’ rights." He is a career social worker and lifelong Racine resident.
Greta Neubauer---also a Democrat---announced her candidacy last week. The Democratic primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, December 19, 2017.
