Apr. 2, 2023 12:30p

(WGTD/AP)---At least some of the damage in Walworth County caused by Friday night's storms was due to a couple of weak tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.

A team sent out by the weather service determined that one tornado traveled a little over 10 miles from southeast of Sharon to Delavan Lake, damaging barns and knocking down some trees.

A second tornado was tracked for six miles from the Geneva National Golf Club north along Prairie Rd. and County 'H' to a point northeast of Elkhorn. The most substantial damage was to a storage facility that had a high volume of roofing material lofted for about a mile.

Each tornado had estimated peak wind gusts of 80 mph and had an EF rating of 0. Neither caused any injuries.

Just 20 miles south of Walworth County's tornadoes, another twister collapsed part of the roof of the Apollo Theater in Belvidere, Illinois where about 260 people were attending a heavy metal concert. A 50-year-old man was pulled from the rubble and later died.

Officials said 40 others were hurt, including two with life-threatening injuries.
