(WGTD)---Vice President Kamala Harris' stop in Pleasant Prairie today will be at Sanmina Corp. in Lakeview Corp. Park. The company makes a variety high-tech applications.
The visit comes just as the Finnish company Nokia announces an agreement with Sanmina to produce Nokia's fiber-optic broadband network electronics and optical modules in Pleasant Prairie. The move means up to 200 new jobs at Sanmina next year.
Generally speaking, Harris is also expected to highlight the administration's efforts to boost high-speed internet infrastructure and promote domestic manufacturing. She's to be joined by Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, according to a news release.
Harris is scheduled to arrive at Sanima just before 1 p.m. and then take a tour. She's scheduled to speak to an assembled crowd at 1:20.
Harris will then travel to Milwaukee for a campaign reception before flying back to Washington.
This isn't the first time that a high-level political leader has visited Lakeview.
Vice-President Mike Pence spoke to a crowd before the 2020 election at a Uline warehouse located just a few blocks away.
