Groups Looks to Draw More Seniors Who Want to Stay Active

Apr. 30, 2024 5:05p

(WGTD)---A local group that’s dedicated to keeping seniors active socially and intellectually is still going strong after 25 years.

The UW-Parkside-affiliated Adventures in Life-Long Learning was founded 25 years ago.

The non-profit organizes lectures, classes, discussion groups, field trips and purely social activities for seniors.

The annual membership fee is $50, with extra charges to cover the additional expenses of some of the activities such as field trips.

Several of ALL's leaders were on a recent edition of WGTD’s Morning Show.

Group president Shelly Underhill says all are welcome to join. "We have a lot of teachers. We have professionals--accountants, lawyers, doctors, business people," Underhill said. "Even in these divisive times, we have people on all sides of the political spectrum--in the middle and at each end."

"And I must say this is the most friendly group of people that I have ever been involved with," Underhill said.

More information is available on the group’s website.
