(WGTD)---Citations have been issued and more may be coming in the case of a Racine man who was bitten by a pit bull as he was trying to protect a woman and her four kids.
The incident happened Tuesday afternoon on Racine’s near-north side at Hamilton and Lasalle.
The woman, Carolina Navarro, tells WGTD that several dogs emerged from a yard after the resident made some type of threatening comment toward the family. Navarro and her four kids were walking home from a daycare.
A neighbor apparently saw what was happening and tried to distract the dogs, giving the woman and her kids a chance to escape.
He wasn’t so lucky and suffered several bite wounds.
Navarro said she’s grateful for the man’s assistance.
Police said they issued citations for licensing violations to the owner of three of the dogs. A fourth dog—the one that actually bit the good Samaritan—is owned by a man who left the area before police arrived.
The two dog owners apparently had their animals together for breeding purposes.
The man who was bit was not transported for medical attention and is recovering at home.
