Friends-Themed Coffeehouse Hopes to Raise Money for Sober-Living Facility in Matthew Perry's Name

(WGTD)---A ‘Friends’ TV-show themed coffee shop in Twin Lakes is drawing additional attention in the wake of the unexpected death of one of the show’s stars.

Matthew Perry, who played Chandler, drowned in a hot tub last weekend.

The ‘Cup O’ Joe’ Coffeehouse will be marking the loss by holding an event to raise money for a sober-living house in Lake Geneva. In real life, Perry was well known for his philanthropic efforts to help addicts recover.

‘Cup O’ Joe’ is co-owned by Dena Prestininzi. She says the coffee shop will be serving Chandler’s favorite foods and offering Chandler-themed drinks Friday evening, November 17th   .

Prestininzi is hoping to sell out the 100 tickets that are being offered. "He made such a difference in people's lives with his comedic genius that I think it would be amazing if there was just an outpouring of love for (this type of) facility that was near and dear to his heart," she said.

At the center of the coffee shop’s 'Friends' memorabilia is a partial replica of the show’s living room, including the orange couch. She says people have been coming in to reflect on Perry’s death. "Since then, we've had people coming in and looking at the section where we have our Joey and Chandler section which usually doesn't get that much attention. They've been coming in and sitting in the recliners and taking pictures," she said.
