(WGTD)---Friends and acquaintances of the Kenosha teen accused of killing his ex-girlfriend provided a gun, bullets, rides, places to stay and a sympathetic ear but none saw fit to call police.
At the teen's murder trial this week, witnesses said they either knew nothing of the percolating plot or said they thought Martice Fuller wasn't serious about wanting to kill Kaylie Juga.
Juga, Fuller said, had ruined his life.
Testifying Wednesday, Dezarea Flores-Weyrauch said Fuller had asked her on more than one occasion to help him commit the crime. She turned him down or said nothing in response. "I didn't think he would do it," she said. "I thought he was just talking out of anger."
Flores-Weyrauch has had her own scrapes with the law. She appeared in court in handcuffs and wearing an orange jail jumpsuit.
Flores-Weyrauch, and another witness, Alexis Furtney, had allowed Fuller to stay at their parents’ homes because Fuller had been kicked out of his own home.
In addition, Furtney testified that she had given Fuller several rides, including, as it would turn out, a lift shortly after the shootings occurred. "About half-way through the ride, I was really upset because he wasn't talking. I felt bad so I kind of started crying," Furtney said. "I asked him where he was and he started crying and he was upset," she said.
During that ride, Fuller disclosed that he believed Kaylie was dead, and that she’d been killed by friends of his cousins.
As directed, Furtney dropped off Fuller at his aunt’s home in Kenosha, the last time she would see him before her testimony Wednesday.
The trial continues Thursday morning with the prosecution continuing to present witnesses.
The proceeding is being streamed live on WGTD’s YouTube channel, with recordings of the days’ proceedings available at the end of the day.
