Double Homicide at Tavern in Elkhorn

(WGTD)---The two people who were fatally shot overnight at a bar in downtown Elkhorn have been identified as a part-time bartender and her husband.

37-year-old Gina Weingart of Elkhorn and her 33-year-old husband, Emerson Weingart, died at the Sports Page Barr just after midnight Thursday. As of Thursday evening, no one was in custody.

Police and deputies were called to the Sports Page Barr on a 'shots fired' report. They found the bodies of a man and a woman, according to a news release from the Walworth County Sheriff's Dept. 

According to scanner traffic, a cash drawer was open and empty. At least one witness was being questioned.

Initially a man between 50 and 60 years old wearing a winter coat who drove off in a sedan was being sought.

The victims were married just last summer. Gina tended bar Wednesday nights while her husband would often times sit with her until closing.
