(WGTD)---UW-Parkside’s annual Nonprofit Leadership Conference Friday, Nov. 17th. will focus on creating a culture of belonging.
Speaking on a recent edition of WGTD’s Morning Show, keynote speaker Beth Ridley noted that the concept is an outgrowth of achieving workplace diversity, equity and inclusion. "If you take those ingredients around diversity, equity and inclusion--the outcome or the frosting on the cake is a culture of belonging," she said.
Belonging is a basic human need, Ridley says. "To feel a sense of comfort and confidence in being who you are at work--in other words you don't have to work hard to fit in. It's a culture of where you feel a sense of contribution. People care what you think. It matters that you show up for work," she said.
Ridley is a corporate executive turned organizational transformation consultant, speaker, author and the CEO of Ridley Consulting Group.
In addition to exploring the concept of belonging, the day-long conference will feature several break-out sessions, including storytelling for non-profits, ethical funding and artificial intelligence.
