June 12, 2023 4:15p

(WGTD)---A verbal altercation between a woman and her boyfriend in Racine led to pushing and shoving and eventually a fatal knifing.

27-year-old Adela Gomez-Zuniga was charged Monday with 1st Degree Intentional Homicide.

The 27-year-old victim has yet to be named.

According to the criminal complaint, police came across the bloodied man on a sidewalk on Walnut St. Saturday evening. The defendant was lying next to him, crying, and had blood on her shirt. Gomez-Zuniga purportedly blurted out that she stabbed him because he had tried to take her money and kill her.

The man was pronounced dead just minutes after arriving at the hospital.

Speaking later to investigators without an attorney present, Gomez-Zuniga said the two had been drinking and arguing over several things.

The yelling went on for some 15 minutes, according to the neighbors.

In the interview, Gomez-Zuniga purportedly said she never meant to kill the man—just scare him.

Bond was set Monday at $500,000.
